Wolf Jett Duo performs high-energy and upbeat original music in the style of the Wood Brothers, Ry Cooder, Taj Mahal and the Black Keys.
“You can’t make old friends,” as Dolly Parton says, and Chris Jones (vocal/guitar) and Jon Payne (drums) have been playing music together since they were 12. Their is an undeniable charm to their friendship that emanates through their music and into the audience. They make a great team and are fun to be around.
Jones is able to seamlessly intertwine classic covers with seemingly timeless originals through the use of his gritty tenor voice and southern slide guitar, channeling both Allman Brothers simultaneously. Payne’s drumming is tastefully understated, always serving the song and adding danceable grooves. On special occasions he plays standup bass as well, adding to the versatility of what these two can do.
Together they have opened for Allen Stone, Fruition, Cedric Burnside, and Brett Dennen at venues such as the Guild Theatre, The Chapel and Folktale Winery.
